The Victoria’s Secret Angels pulled off yet another fabulous show that was entertaining to both male and female audiences. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show will be on CBS  December 1, 2009, (this coming Tuesday). The highly-anticipated fashion event included a $3 million Fantasy Bra worn by model Marisa Miller, which boasts over 150 carats of diamonds. Heidi Klum, who gave birth to a daughter five weeks ago, was the audience favorite in her purple corset covered with a half gown with poufs of tulle. Heidi said that after giving birth to baby Lou, she was glad to have the chance to host instead of model. “You definitely have less pressure hosting, when you don’t shake your booty in front of millions of people around the world,” she told CNN, laughing.

The super hot girls in sexy clothing and lingerie on the catwalk included Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros, Izabel Goulart, Doutzen Kroes, Lindsay Ellingson, Candice Swanepoel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Chanel Iman.

She looked amazing and glamorous in a strapless gold dress by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan.
Though she’s become known for her high-fashion risk-taking, Mrs.Obama chose a dress with a classic floor-length cut in a subdued gold fabric and paired it with a light shawl. Mrs. O reports:
“The strapless gown features hand cut sterling silver sequins sewn on nude silk chiffon, which create an abstract floral pattern. The dress is entirely handmade, requiring three weeks of work by 40 people, completed in Naeem Kahn’s family workshop in India.”

Rihanna & Lady Gaga at American Music Awards

lady-gaga

rihannaBoth Lady Gaga and Rihanna had albums dropping on Monday. Although they didn’t win any awards at the  A.M.A.s in Los Angeles on Sunday night, the fashion-forward singers didn’t disappoint with their onstage attire.

Rihanna performed a combo of “Wait Your Turn” and “Hard,” both from her new album wearing a white bondage jumpsuit made of strips, skin, and a collar of bullets. When Lady Gaga took the stage, it was all about her outfit -  the combination of white knee-high boots paired with an asymmetrical lace belly-baring top and nude-tone underwear. Between those two great artists and singers, it is difficult to say who shocked us more.

Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer wink for i-D

These stunning supermodels of the 1990s still aren’t afraid to bare all. Eva Herzigova, 36, Helena Christensen, 40, and Claudia Schiffer, 39, stripped down for this month’s i-D MAGAZINE, wearing just thigh-high leather boots for the cover shoot.
It has been over 20 years since these three supermodels broke through and they all still got what it takes!
Why “mature” models are increasingly more popular for ad campaigns? Experts think it has to do with the financial crisis. Before no one was perplexed when 18-year old girls advertised anti-age lotions. Now, in times of crisis, luxury brands with multi-billion dollar profits have doubts about the appropriateness of using too young girls for their ad campaigns.
Mature women will react better to an ad featuring a woman of their age. The most famous brands do not hesitate to shoot supermodels in intimate settings since fitness, plastic surgery, makeup and airbrushing let the top models look wonderful at any age.

The Little Black Dress – Than And Now

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

No lady’s wardrobe is quite complete without the little black dress that has been around forever.

little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often with a short skirt. Since Chanel introduced the “little black dress” in 1926, it has become the epitome of chic. Her first LBD was a slash-necked, short silk dress with only diagonal pin-tucks as decoration. Chanel believed fashion should be functional as well as chic. Radically simple, her LBD was designed not to show stains and to fit every woman. It was meant as the fashion ideal: a perfectly simple, yet sexy object. The most famous visual of this style is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys.

The “little black dress” is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, who believe it a “rule of fashion” that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for evening.

Anyone with a little black dress will not need telling why they are so wonderful but a reminder is always good when you feel like you have nothing to wear. Little black dresses are brilliant because… audrey_hepburn_breakfast_at_tiffanys

- They come in a variety of shapes and designs. Long, short, pencil skirt, flared skirt, long sleeved, halter neck, tube, spaghetti straps – the list is endless.

- Black is very very slimming. It is flattering whether you are a perfect size 6, a perfect size 20.

- Whatever the occasion it never looks out of place (as long as the sleeves and length are appropriate).

- You can go from work to a cocktail party without changing (what an emotional roller-coaster of a day that would be).

- You can dress it down with thick black tights, flat shoes, a cardigan or a blazer.

- You can dress it up with a flash of color in your make-up, with extravagant jewelery, beautiful shoes or a super belt.

- You can wear the same dress for a week and look different every day with the wonder of accessories.

- You can have ten completely different black dresses in your wardrobe without feeling guilty.

- You can look great in a little black dress whether it cost $20 or $2,000.

- You know it will never go out of fashion so it is a long term investment.

- It can be elegant, chic, sexy, formal, relaxed, reserved, you can stand out or blend into the background.

Holiday Dresses!

Monday, November 16th, 2009

“Tis the Season!”…that’s right, the holidays are right around the corner and with that in mind, it’s time to look in to your closet and see what’s missing…that perfect holiday dress! Whether it’s a cocktail party, special event or you’re just home for the holidays, there is never a better time than now to find that special something.  You can always try to find the latest style “lil black dress” that you can’t do without, or maybe you’re looking to make a splash with a flash of color. When you’re hosting at home, think comfort first. When your guests see that you are at ease, they will feel relaxed too. Being comfortable, yet sexy and glamorous, at an affordable price and still being able to turn heads as you make your entrance wearing the latest holiday fashion will get you through the entire season. Now that you’ve planned the menu, the guest list and the decorations, it’s time for you!

Kasiapic 021But do you have any idea what to wear? Ever wonder what your perfect dress would be for that ‘I feel amazing look’?  Not all dresses go with all body types, and let’s face it, we are not all stick thin models. Real women need real options. You should always look at the dress individually first and really think about your body type and how it would fit you.  There are so many different body types out there so it really depends on yours.

If you’re all toned going to the gym everyday, why not wear something that shows off all that hard work? You’ve got it, show it! Wear a piece that fits your body, maybe with an open back or  a deep V in the front depending on your bust size. A bigger bust, a smaller V, a smaller bust, a deeper V. For a woman with a softer looking figure, wear something that you are comfortable in. You can still wear form fitting dresses, and you should. Depending on how your exact body type is, you should pick something that is fitted rather than not. If it is not fitted then it might make you look larger than you actually are. Be careful in choosing your dress that it is longer than it is wide, this will help elongate your look giving a more slimming appearance.

If you’re a full figured female with curves, don’t be afraid to show them! Everyone has a problem area that they focus on, not necessarily something that others see, but rather something that you focus on. As a rule whatever you pick, you should feel comfortable in. If you are not comfortable, it will show. Pick something that accentuates your attributes, and that flows away from the body and has movement. This will allow you to feel comfortable and look fabulous at the same time. It helps to decide early so that your outfit is the last thing on your mind the day of the holiday celebration. Remember you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to look and feel fabulous!
